New Adsense Ad unit - 200×200
Google never rests - they’re always working on something new for us to try out. Their latest offering is a 200×200 Adsense ad unit. I like seeing new ad formats - especially small ones like this “small square.” The more variety, the more flexibility I have in designing my site. Anyone plan on using this new ad unit?

I put one up on my blog this morning. It’s set up to display below the second post on the page and it looks pretty good so far. I’ll have to give it a couple of weeks to see if it does anything for me, though.
How’re your eyes doing?

I think the new ad unit will be great for blending in within a posts content - since it’s so small it won’t get in the way as much as the larger blocks. Do you think you’ll give it a shot that way? I may if I get around to it ( I’m so lazy sometimes! )
My eyes are improving slowly. Still dry, but getting better. Things are still a little blurry, but I can see pretty dang well considering. I hope this farsighted-ness goes away soon though - it’s wierd!
And of course reading on a laptop is a bit of a struggle - the text and whitespace bleed together. Don’t even get me started on my Treo!

I hadn’t thought of that for the new ad unit. I was thinking of using a smaller 125 x 125 at some point like problogger uses in his first posts, but one thing at a time.
I want to spend some time tweaking my template and researching some affiliates. I think my traffic (at least until I get up there in the search engines) is mostly going to be more interested in affiliate ads rather than adsense.
I remember going through a pretty weird time with my eyes, too. I had RK in 1990 and my vision was pretty good right away. It did go back and forth for a few months, though. Hang in there, man!

Yeah this ad type is best for blending with content. Into an article/blog post/forum post can work best.

Ray-I haven’t spent much time looking into affiliate programs- is there anything that you recommend besides TLA?

Usually the biger ads format are better !
So you can really rely on 360X200, big boxes!
Also image ads are good. Don’t be afraid to make your ads as spectacular as can be!

I say ads should be kept small.. if i see a big annoying ad, i’ll ignore it…
