Blogging Blog

Ok, so you’ve decided that blogging is for you.  You want to be a blogger.  Only, you don’t know what to do now.  Here are a few basic steps.

1. Decide on your blogging platform.  Make this decision wisely - it’s quite difficult to switch an established blog to a new platform, and it can mess with your internal links something fierce.
2. Let’s assume you’ve chosen Wordpress for your blogging platform.  Now you need to register a domain, and set up hosting for your blog.  There are dozens of places to do this; I suggest doing a Google search.  I’d hate to recommend one company and it not work out well for you!
3. Install Wordpress ( very easy if you use DreamHost - there is a one-click install. )
4. Begin blogging.

That’s it!  Just 4 easy steps to start your Wordpress blog.  A few words of caution.  Be sure to pick your domain name carefully.  This is probably one of the most crucial steps in the entire process - this is a name that you will stick with for your entire blogging career.  Sure, you can change, but you’ll loose all your links and Page Rank if you do.  So don’t!

Sound too easy?  That’s really all their is to it, as far as getting started.  We’ll cover Themes and Plugins later - as a beginner they aren’t a big deal for you.  You need to walk before you can run, right?
