Blogs vs Forums

A well-commented blog is simply a forum where only the owner can create a post ( or thread in forum-ese ). There’s back and forth discussion, points and counterpoints, disagreement all over the place. What makes a blog a better form of website than a forum? Is it the fact that blogs posts are generally more formal than a forum thread? Or is it the fact that only the author can post? Forums have been around for ages, and blogs are the new kid on the block. Which one will win out? Do you own a blog or forum, or both, and why?

      Blogs tend to have a higher level of quality in the posts. IMHO, anyways.

      Comparing forums and blogs is like comparing apples and oranges. Blogs generally have a more focused purpose and a single person or small group of people as the guiding force while forums usually have a number of voices even though they might be discussing a number of topics.

      Blogs tend to speak with more authority because of the more centralized approach, but they both have important roles. I generally would look for quick answers to specific questions in a forum, while blogs can usually provide more in-depth information.

      I think you’re right - people tend to proofread a little bit more when writing up a blog post. Many forum posts are pretty rough around the edges.

      Good point about the quick answer vs detailed info.

      I don’t think I’ll probably ever go down the forum road - main reason is the lack of income potential. Just about every forum owner I’ve spoken with has lamented the ability to make any meaningful money off the site - even very popular sites.

      The basic difference of forum engine from blog engine that forum raising up any message which have a comment. ) Thats’s all. And as for WP I made a little plugin for me that doing forum styled blog.
