August 2006 Earnings breakdown

As promised, here is a makeshift piechart ( Thank you MS Paint! ) showing my blogging earnings from August, 2006. I’ve chosen not to display hard numbers for now, though that may change in the future. My plan for the time being is to show a piechart with each revenue stream present, to show how much of my income comes from each source. I’ll also add a progressive char to show increase / decrease percentage earnings from the month prior.

As you can see, the vast majority of my income comes from Google Adsense at this point. Text Link Ads is a small, but growing part of that income. I did not earn any money from Chitika this month, mainly because I redesigned my Smartphone Reviews blog and haven’t yet incorporated the Chitika ads. I probably will at some point, because although they have never been a great earner for me, I think they are a good addition to a product type blog nonetheless.

So, how about you - where does your online income come from?

  • The tiny amount that I’m making now is coming from adsense. I have some amazon affiliate links and now a hosting affiliate banner, but those haven’t paid off yet. I’m hoping my new web site will help me bring in more traffic and with it more money. I’d definitely like to try out the text link ads now, but I’m not sure if I meet the criteria yet…

  • I’m also hoping affiliate earnings pan out… only time will tell. I’m mainly concentrating on traffic these days, with the hopes that the income increase will follow naturally.

  • Yep. My first goal is just to be able to pay for hosting. Then on to bigger and better things.

  • Thankfully I’ve been able to pass that mark pretty well. Got my cable bill covered as well. On to the car payments!

  • Most months I make most of my money from Adsense, but there are some months that affiliate programs outperform my Adsense Earnings.

BTW - Thanks for introducing me to your blog. It’s definitely worth adding to my list of feeds.

  • Hey George -
I still need to figure out affiliate programs one of these days. I know they have a lot of potential, I just haven’t realized any of it yet!
    Thanks for reading!

  • I make most of my affiliate money from product reviews and recommendations. I used to make some pretty decent money from ebay as well, but that has died down a lot over the last year.

Also, giving away free ebooks has been a good way to make affiliate money. However, you need traffic to make decent money from affiliate programs.

I find Adsense to be much easier. That’s probably why it’s so popular. You just put up the ads and write your content. No pre-selling required to make money with Adsense.

  • And that’s exactly why I think Adsense will continue to be the biggest earner on my blogs, and small blogs as a whole. It’s simply easier, and that makes it better. If I have to work 2 or 3 times as hard to generate 25% more revenue, it doesn’t make sense to put forth the effort.

  • I started blogging on September 6 and i was earning n average of $0.30 per day…but it has been increasing slowly and when i made $4.67 two days back i was amazed and for the past 2 days I’ve been making around $1.50 daily… Things are getting better! The traffic is basically direct visitors or probably form the forms

Check out the website and if any1 has any suggestions please let me know.. thx
